The cast for the upcoming sci-fi horror film ‘Marshmallow’ is complete and will introduce three new rising actors: Kue Lawrence (Beautiful Boy), Kai Cech (Dear Santa), and Max Malas (New Amsterdam), along with veteran actor Corbin Bernsen (The Dentist, White House Plumbers).
Directed by Daniel DelPurgatorio (Bug Bites) and written by Andy Greskoviak (Black Friday), the film follows an introverted 12-year-old named Morgan (Lawrence) at a secluded summer camp who must survive a fictional campfire tale coming to life. When a mysterious figure arrives at the camp, Morgan and his new friends must journey to uncover a sinister secret beneath the camp’s surface.
The film will be produced by Warner David, Todd Friedman, and Hemlock Circle Productions (Collection, The Re-Education of Molly Singer). Legendary special effects makeup artist, Robert Kurtzman, is set to oversee the special effects department.
Kurtzman’s special effect studio, K.N.B. EFX, has won several awards, including an Emmy for the television miniseries Frank Herbert’s Dune in 2001 and an Oscar in Best Makeup for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in 2006. Additionally, Kurtzman has personally worked on dozens of horror films and television including, Predator (1987), Evil Dead 2 (1987), Tusk (2014), and The Haunting of Hill House (2018).
The film is set to begin production in the next few weeks.
