The cast was announced along with elements of the plot for the 25th James Bond movie, however the title is still not known to the public, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rami Malek is confirmed to play the central villain in the film with Lea Seydoux returning as Dr. Madeleine Swann. Other new additions include Billy Magnussen, Dali Benssalah, Lashana Lynch, Ana de Armas, and David Dencik. Ben Whishaw will also star again in his role playing Q. Ralph Fiennes will play M, Naomie Harris will be featured as Miss Moneypenny, Rory Kinnear also returns after his role in Spectre and Jeffrey Wright, who starred in the franchise’s Quantum Solace.
At Daniel Craig’s request, comedy writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Killing Eve) has been brought onto the project in order to “liven up” the script.
The announcement for the film was made from Jamaica with the entire cast present except for Malek, who later said “I promise you all I will be making sure Mr. Bond does not have an easy ride of it in this, his 25th outing.”
It was revealed that Bond begins the film in Jamaica after leaving his spy life behind. However, his friend Felix Leiter asks for his help on a mission. He is tasked with rescuing a kidnapped scientist. He faces dangers from an elusive villain in possession of new technology.
Preproduction has been already underway in places such as Italy, Jamaica, and Norway. The new release date has now been settled for April 2020.
