Scribe Phyllis Nagy (Carol) has been tapped to adapt The Trap for Tristar Pictures, according to Deadline.
Originally published in Germany as Die Falle, The Trap is the debut novel from Melanie Raab. The crime thriller centers on a famous author, Linda Conrads, who has become a recluse since her sister was murdered 12 years before. Believing she sees her sister’s killer on TV, Conrads lures him to her house in an effort to extract a confession to the crime.
Elizabeth Cantillon of The Cantillon Company and Josh Bratman of Immersive Pictures are producing.
Nagy adapted the screenplay for Todd Haynes’ new drama, Carol, which bows next week amid Oscar buzz. The period romance co-stars Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine) and Rooney Mara (The Social Network) as two women who fall in love in 1950s New York. Nagy has earned two Emmy nominations for writing and directing HBO’s Mrs. Harris, which starred Annette Bening (American Pie) and Ben Kingsley (Ghandi).
