The first images of Kristen Stewart (Twilight series, On The Road) starring in Camp X-Ray have been released.The camp in question is otherwise known as the notorious Guantanamo Bay, the temporary detention camp of Joint Task Force Guantanamo and the U.S. Naval Base in Cuba. The film has been selected for competition for best US dramatic film at the International Sundance Film Festival, January 16-26, 2014.
This is Kristen Stewart’s first leading role since the Twilight series finale, and marks a film targeting a more mature perspective. It is the directorial debut for Peter Sattler, who also penned the script.
Camp X-Ray tells the story of a young prison guard at the infamous prison who becomes disillusioned with the military after she strikes up a close friendship with a prisoner who has been detained for 8 years. The film also stars Payman Maadi (A Separation), Lane Garrison (Prison Break and plays Buck on the 3-network TV special Bonnie and Clyde), JJ Soria (Filly Brown, Crank: High Voltage) , Tara Holt (Empire State), John Carol Lynch (Grand Torrino, Crazy, Stupid Love) and Julia Duffy(Intolerable Cruelty).
Studio Gotham Group, Upload Films, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Gina Kwon and Lindsay Williams are producing, with David Gordon Green executive producing.
