The Sony picture Bullet Train has added another passenger in veteran actor Hiroyuki Sanada, Deadline reports. The film has begun shooting and is expected for a release sometime in 2021. The cast already has an onslaught of talent that includes Brad Pitt, Brian Tyree Henry, Joey King, Zazie Beetz, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Logan Lerman, Masi Oka and Andrew Koji.
The film is about a group of assassins aboard a high speed bullet train that figure out that all of their missions are connected. Action ensues and the film has a great director for it: Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde director David Leitch. Leitch is a wonderful action director with a massive background in stunt coordination.
The film is based on the 2010 Japanese mystery novel Maria Beetle by Kōtarō Isaka. The script is penned by Lights Out producer Zak Olkewicz, who currently has three scripts in various stages of production.
Sanada, sixty-years old now, adds a verteran presence to an already stacked cast. The actor has appeared in over one hundred TV and film credits in his long career. Recently, he was seen in the Hawkeye fight sequence in Avengers: Endgame, which was an exciting scene, and the Jonathan Nolan series Westworld.
No word on how big his role is, but if his career is any indication, he will bring a memorable presence to whatever amount of scenes he’s in.
Bullet Train is currently shooting, though there is no set release date for the Sony film.
