‘Bullet Train’ Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson Joins ‘Nosferatu’ Reboot

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has signed on to join the cast of Focus Features’ upcoming Nosferatu reboot. Directed by Robert Eggers, the film’s cast consists of Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, and Willem Dafoe.

Robert Eggers, well known for his period horror films The Lighthouse and The Witch, will help bring F.W. Murnau’s 1922 gothic horror story to life alongside Skarsgård, who will portray the titular character. The film will cover the untold terrors spawning from an innocent 19th-century German woman and the ancient vampire stalking her.

Eggers had trouble bringing the project to fruition thanks to several difficulties with financing and casting. Last year, he gave an interview with IndieWire where he lamented that his project had “fallen apart twice” while clearing up that Harry Style’s rumored role would have been Hutter instead of the titular vampire. He even joked that supernatural forces were plaguing his efforts, including Murnau telling him to stop.

With the film finally underway, producer Jeff Robinov, who had previously attempted to fund Eggers’ film under Studio 8, will work with John Graham, Eggers, Chris Columbus, and Eleanor Columbus to bring it to life. While Focus Features will distribute it domestically, Universal Studios will distribute it internationally. This reboot will be the second remake of the 1922 cult classic after Werner Herzog’s 1979 film Nosferatu the Vampyre.

Taylor-Johnson is currently in post-production as the titular character in Kraven the Hunter and is currently filming The Fall Guy. While there is no word about how these projects will affect his involvement in this film, the film’s production is underway in Prague.
