Brie Larson May Join Judd Apatow’s ‘Train Wreck’

Brie Larson Eyes ‘Train Wreck’

We’ve been following the slow and steady process for the upcoming comedy Train Wreck for some time now.  The new comedy being set up at Universal Pictures starring and featuring script by comedian Amy Schumer already boasts a strong pedigree in the form of director Judd Apatow and the recently announced Bill Hader, in his first prime post-Saturday Night Live role, as co-star.  Now comes word of another choice casting selection – Brie Larson, who is coming off a stellar 2013 with her critically lauded, Gotham Award-winning, Indie Spirit-nominated breakthrough turn in Short Term 12, appears to be in talks to join the cast as well.

Larson would seem to be a real get for Apatow, and the sort of actor he initially made a name for himself directing.  Larson seems equally at home with dramatic and comedic roles – she previously earned her bonafides on the Showtimes multiple personality series The United States of Tara opposite Toni Collette and further showcased her comic talents in small roles in films like Don Jon, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and 21 Jump Street.  After the critical success of Short Term 12, Larson has become quite in demand and is currently filming the Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) thriller The Gambler opposite Mark Wahlberg and Jessica Lange and just signed on for the DreamWorks drama The Good Luck of Right Now.

Train Wreck still has a way to go before it’s supposed to hit theaters and surely more announcements are still to come.  Universal is releasing the film on July 24, 2015.
