Given Brendan Fraser’s Hollywood comeback, many are anticipating the star’s next role. This is especially true due to Fraser being a beloved 90s actor with films like The Mummy, George of the Jungle, and School Ties in his repertoire, but also for his recent Academy Award for Best Actor for the film The Whale (Comicbook).
Despite this, the star has reported that he is being “picky” with potential roles. A possible reason for his hesitancy could be due to his support for the WGA strike. He stated in a conversation with People, “I read the trades the other day. Apparently, I’m going to have to pick up a picket sign… It might be a long summer… At the moment, I don’t have anything – I’m really being picky right now.”
Unfortunately, one of the films the actor appeared in was scrapped, that being Batgirl where Fraser was set to play Garfield Lynns/Firefly. Fraser praised the film, saying: “Everything that we shot was real and exciting and just the antithesis of doing a straightforward digital all-greenscreen thing. They ran firetrucks around downtown Glasgow at 3 in the morning and they had flamethrowers. It was a big-budget movie, but one that was just stripped down to the essentials.” Even if Batgirl was canceled, fans can still look forward to Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, which Fraser will take part in.
