Brandon Perea Set To Lead ‘Insidious 6’

Insidious 6 has been confirmed, with Brandon Perea heading the cast. The sixth installment of the Insidious horror franchise is currently still in production in Australia. The film is being produced by Blumhouse and Sony’s Screen Gems alongside Stage 6 Films. It will be directed by franchise newcomer Jacob Chase, who co-wrote the script with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.

The cast includes a mix of newcomers and familiar faces, Brandon Perea is set as this film’s lead, while longtime franchise veteran Lin Shaye returns to reprise her role as paranormal investigator Elise Rainier. Newcomers include Sam Spruell, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Island Austin, and Amelie Eve. The film was originally set for release in late 2025 but waa delayed and has now been slated for theatrical release on August 21, 2026.

Since the first film debuted in 2010, the Insidious series has become one of horror’s most consistent box office performers. Across its five films, the franchise has earned roughly $730–$740 million worldwide. The most recent entry, Insidious: The Red Door, grossed around $190 million globally, marking it one of the top 15 highest-grossing horror franchises in history.

Major plot details for Insidious 6 remain under wraps. However, Perea’s casting suggests the series will introduce a fresh lead character while continuing to draw on familiar elements. The franchise reportedly plans to introduce a new storyline, while Shaye’s return ensures a connection to earlier films, particularly the long-running exploration of “The Further,” the paranormal dimension central to the series.

For Perea, best known for his breakout role in Jordan Peele’s 2022 film, Nope, this will be his second horror project. The role marks another step into acclaimed genre filmmaking. With production underway and a confirmed release date, Insidious 6 looks to preserve the franchise’s legacy while charting new territory, blending familiar fears with new ones.
