Brand New Artwork and Featurette for ‘Furious 7’

Universal Pictures has simultaneously released the first official images, artwork, and title for the latest installment in The Fast & The Furious franchise, which is being dubbed Furious 7. The above poster features returning cast members Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Jordana Brewster, and the late Paul Walker. Slated for an April 3rd, 2015 release, the official trailer will stream during a live event on November 1st at 12 p.m. PST.

Furious 7 is set to follow the speed-loving crew as they take on Ian Shaw, played by new cast addition Jason Statham (Crank), who is seeking revenge against Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and company for the death of his brother Owen Shaw (the antagonist of Fast & Furious 6). Directed by James Wan (Saw), the film will also feature appearances by returning actors Lucas Black (Jarhead) and Elsa Pataky (Fast Five), as well as newcomers to the series Kurt Russell (Death Proof), Djimon Hounsou (Gladiator), and rapper Iggy Azalea.

It is still unknown just how much filming was done by Walker (Takers) before he shockingly passed away last year. If the artwork is any indication, he will still be featured prominently in the film. We will have to wait until the trailer’s release next week, however, to get a better sense of his involvement. We already know that some footage will feature his stand-ins, nobly played by the late actor’s two brothers, Cody and Caleb Walker.

In the meantime, Universal has also released the featurette below, titled The Road to Furious 7, which gives audiences a retrospective of the franchise from its beginnings.
