In a report originally from Variety, a representative of the Cornell estate confirmed that a biopic film about the rock musician is officially in the works. No writing or acting talent has yet been attached to the film but we are newly familiar with the team who will be producing it.
Christopher John Cornell was an American songwriter, singer, and musician known for his efforts in rock music, primarily in the grunge era. He was known for being the frontman of Soundgarden until they broke up in 1997 which brings him to lead Audioslave from 2001 to 2007. Cornell was accomplished with his 16 Grammy nominations and 3 wins, making for a prolific rock musician whose death, following a show of the reunited Soundgarden in 2017, brought together music fans and artists alike to mourn.
With Hollywood’s biopic train continuing to run at full steam, it only seems right that Cornell is honored in a silver screen depiction of his life and career. Cornell’s widow Vicky, along with American actor and producer, Brad Pitt, will produce the film. Pitt and Peter Berg’s Film 45 production company is behind the project and Berg (Lone Survivor, Hancock) is also set to direct.
