‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Cast Is Taking Shape

Currently, casting is underway for a film based on the members of the iconic band Queen. It looks like the main front line-up has been found!

Bryan Singer will be directing the film. Singer is known for his expansive presence in the Fox-based X-Men films. He also worked on the Tom Cruise movie, Valkyrie; Superman Returns; and The Usual Subjects.

The classic band came into being in the seventies. The film seeks to portray the four original members of the band: Brian May, John Deacon, Roger Taylor, and of course Freddie Mercury. Gwilym Lee (Jamestown) will act as Brian May; Joe Mazzello (The Pacific) will act as Deacon; Ben Hardy (The Woman in White) will act as Taylor; and Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) will act as Mercury.

Music from Queen has already been a central point in another film: Flash Gordon, which came out in 1980. May, Taylor, Deacon, and Mercury all penned songs for the soundtrack. In total, the band made fifteen studio albums in the years from 1973 to 1995. Their last album used the late Mercury’s already-recorded vocals, allowing him to technically (and tragically) contribute to an album posthumously.

The film is poised to hit theaters on Christmas day in 2018.
