‘Bluey’ Gets Her First Big Screen Debut With 2027 Movie Release

The hit children’s show Bluey will be taking on the big screen, scheduled to release in 2027. Bluey is set to have its first debut in theaters worldwide, then go onto Disney+, and will also air on ABC Iviess and ABS Kids in Australia. This ensures fans of all ages and across the globe can see this Heeler family’s new adventure take flight on a big screen.

The creator of the beloved series now movie, Joe Brumn, will write and direct this movie and bring his vision of this movie to life but for a larger screen. Brumn shared, “I enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on ‘The Sign’ in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that. I’ve always thought ‘Bluey’ deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together. I’m excited to continue partnering with Cecilia Persson, Tom Fussell, and the team at BBC Studios, Dana Walden, Alan Bergman, and Disney to bring this new ‘Bluey’ story to the big screen.

This movie will have the same creative team that made Bluey a hit. With that said, the original cast members, Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack, will be returning, and Joff Bush will write the movie’s music. The production company behind this movie is Ludo Studio, and they will lead the project in collaboration with BBC Studios. Amber Naismith will produce this movie alongside co-director Richard Jeffery.

Since the 2018 debut of the show, Bluey has resonated with audiences of all ages through its heartfelt storytelling and relatable family dynamics. This movie promises to expand on these themes by delivering a cinematic experience for fans of all ages. As Brumn expresses, this music seeks to honor Bluey’s well-known tradition of creating memorable but shared moments for families globally.
