Bleecker Street Acquires Rights to ‘Slingshot’, Sci-Fi Thriller Film Starring Casey Affleck

Mikael Håfström’s sci-fi thriller Slingshot has had its U.S. rights picked up by Bleecker Street with plans currently set to release the film theatrically in 2024. The film stars Casey Affleck, Laurence Fishburne, and Emily Beecham and focuses on an astronaut who struggles to keep a grip upon reality while on a mission heading to Saturn’s moon, Titan. The cast also features Tomer Capone and David Morrissey. The screenplay for Slingshot was written by R. Scott Adams and Nathan Parker. 

Producing the film is Astral Pictures in association with Bluestone Entertainment as well as Filmsquad and the Hungarian investor Széchenyi Funds Ltd. Along with the aforementioned producers, Istvan Major, Richard Saperstein, and Beau Turpin are also serving in this role. Serving as executive producers on the film are the following: Nikolett Barabás, Ron Cundy, Ivett Havasi, Michael Hollingsworth, Jonathan Krauss, Shara Kay, Tom Nohstadt, Joanna Plafsky, and Brooklyn Weaver.

The sci-fi thriller film was shot at Korda Studios along with a number of other locations in the Budapest area.

Negotiating the distribution deal for Bleecker Street were Avy Eschenasy and Kent Sanderson along with WME Independent who represent the international rights to the film and act on behalf of the filmmakers.
