According to The Hollywood Reporter, Blake Lively (The Gossip Girl) is set to star in The Husband’s Secret, CBS Films’ screen adaptation of the New York Times best-selling book by Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies).
Lively plays a woman who strives to be a perfect wife and mom ensconced in her organized suburban lifestyle. One day she stumbles upon a letter from her husband with instructions that the letter is to be opened only upon his death. She is too tempted and opens the letter, discovering her husband’s secret and upending everything she thought she knew about her life.
Chris and Paul Weitz are producers under their Depth of Field banner. Lively is executive producing. A search is underway for a director.
CBS Films acquired the book in 2013. Terry Press, CBS Films president said, “Liane Moriarty has established herself as one of the defining voices of the modern woman, and Blake Lively’s unique combination of vulnerability, strength and extraordinary talent makes her the perfect actress to realize Moriarty’s creation.”
Lively was most recently seen in Jaume Collet-Serra’s The Shallows and in Woody Allen’s Cafe Society. Her newest film, All I See is You, will roll out in theaters on September 15th.
