Blake Lively to Make Official Directorial Debut

Actress Blake Lively of Gossip Girl and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is set to make her official directorial debut. The businesswoman chose to film Seconds, a Searchlight Picture movie written by Edgar Wright. It tells the story of a head chef and restaurant owner who is given the mystical opportunity to change the past by some greater force, but as she does so the world around her begins to alter more than she intended.

While this is Lively’s first feature-length directorial role, it is not her first time directing. Last year, the star from A Simple Favor was asked by good friend Taylor Swift to direct the music video to her song “I Bet You Think About Me” from the album Red (Taylor’s Version). The video was even nominated for Video of the Year at the CMA’s, nabbing the Betty’s Buzz her first-ever nomination at a music awards show.

This directorial news isn’t the only thing coming up for Blake Lively. Tomorrow is the 2022 Met Gala, and she along with her husband Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, and Lin-Manuel Miranda will be hosting. Fans are anticipating Lively’s look for the evening, as she has some of the most heavily referenced past looks under her belt.

No information regarding filming or premiere date for Seconds has been announced.
