Blake Lively & Justin Baldoni Will Star In ‘It Ends With Us’

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are set to be the leads in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. It Ends With Us. Baldoni is set to direct with Christy Hall adapting the script and development with Wayfarer Studios and Sony Pictures.

Alex Saks is producing for the Saks Picture Company, with Jamey Heath producing on behalf of Wayfarer Studios. Executive producers include Lively and Hoover, as well as Steve Sarowitz, Hall, Andrew Calof, and Baldoni on behalf of Wayfarer.

The story follows Lily, a recent college grad who moved and is looking to start her life. Instead, she meets Ryle and falls in love with him, only to have her first love Atlas reappear in her life and challenge her relationship with Ryle.

Hoover is currently the best-selling novelist in the U.S., thanks to “BookTok,” which earned her 2 billion views. She has sold over 20 million books and has written ten bestselling prints in 2022. It Ends With Us was on the New York Times Best Seller List for over 90 weeks.

The novel was pitched in 2019 by Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios, who are working and consulting with Hoover.
Lively, in recent years, made her directorial debut with Taylor Swift’s 2021 music video for “I Bet You Think About Me.” The video earned her two nominations for ACM Award and one from a CMA. Lively is also set to reprise her role in the sequel to A Simple Favor alongside Anna Kendrick, with Paul Feig returning to direct. In addition, making her first feature directorial debut for Searchlight, Lively will bring Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novel Seconds to life, with Edgar Wright writing and producing alongside Marc Platt.

Baldoni is best known for his starring role in CW’s Jane the Virgin but has moved behind the camera to work on films like Clouds and Five Feet Apart. He also hosts the Webby-nominated podcast The Man Enough Podcast, which dives into the nuances of masculinity. In complementary fashion with his podcast, Baldoni has written a book titled Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity in 2021, as well as Boys Will Be Human.
