Today is certainly a good day to be a Marvel fan, A new trailer of Black Panther: Wakanda forever directed by Ryan Coogler was released and it delivers a glimpse to the new hero. Actor Chadwick Boseman played King T’Challa (Black Panther) in the first film released in 2018. He passed away in 2020 after a long battle with colon cancer and it was decided that his role as T’Challa was not going to be replaced with another actor.
The trailer opens with Queen Ramonda (Angela Basset) holding T’Challa’s Black Panther helmet while mourning. The new film is set after the king’s passing which pays an homage to Boseman and gives space for a new beginning.
In this action-packed sequel the Wakandans have to face a new menace coming from an undersea nation called Talokan. The aesthetic created for this new nation seems to be inspired in Mayan civilization which is reflected on the attire that wears the new antagonist named Namor. This character appears in the comics and is played by Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta.
In the trailer known characters from the first film are seen such as the brilliant Shuri (Letitia Wright), Okoye (Danai Gurira), M’Baku (Winston Duke) and Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o). Without T’Challa in the feature it may be possible that the film is going to be led by the female characters. The trailer shows a quick shot of the new black panther who seems to be a woman. There are many speculations around it and certainly makes sense in a universe where female characters are strong.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is going to be available in theaters November 11 and tickets are available now.
