Via Deadline, Billie Lourd is set to join George Clooney and Julia Roberts in the Universal film Ticket to Paradise directed by Ol Parker. Ticket to Paradise looks to be a fun romantic comedy set in Bali. The film will follow a divorced couple(Clooney and Roberts) trying to stop their daughter from getting married, and making the same mistakes they did in the past. Lourd will be playing the daughter’s best friend, while that particular role has yet to be cast. It is clear that this character Lourd is playing is within the same vein as her role as Gigi in Booksmart, a fun side character that Lourd can excel in.
While Lourd is the daughter of Carrie Fisher and granddaughter of Debbie Reynolds, the 28 year-old actor is beginning to make a name for herself. Aside from the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Lourd has appeared as a regular on American Horror Story and played a very memorable part in Booksmart. This is a huge step in her career as she continues to grow.
The script was penned by Ol Parker and Daniel Pipski. This will be one of Pipski’s first official projects, while Parker was a writer on the incredibly underrated Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, which was a fun ride from start to finish.
There is no set release or production date as of yet, but casting is well underway.
