The movie It: Chapter 2 received mixed reviews from critics. Most believe the first film was better, and Bill Hader’s daughter agrees. Hader portrayed the adult version of Richie Tozier in It: Chapter 2. According to Hader, his children don’t usually watch his movies. However, with something as mainstream as It: Chapter 2, his daughter couldn’t entirely avoid it. Hader recounted:
“The only thing my kids have ever been interested in seeing [involving me] is, I was in It 2. I was in the It movie, and they’ve been to different sleepovers, and that’s like a movie kids put on at sleepovers. So my kid did go, ‘I saw you in It.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, what do you think?’ She was like, ‘First movie was better.’ I was like, ‘Okay.'”
Based on this quote, it doesn’t seem Hader was too fazed by his daughter’s review. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Hader’s daughter wasn’t wrong either. While the first It movie earned a solid 85% score, the sequel dropped to 62%. This represents a significant decline in ratings.
Despite this, It: Chapter 2 remains a decent horror film, and Hader delivered a valuable performance.
