Since the wild success of Stephen King’s novel turned 2017 horror film IT, fans have been speculating which actors will portray the adult versions of the youthful characters we already know and love in IT: Chapter 2. Recently, it was announced that Jessica Chastain would officially be playing the role of adult Beverly Mars. She will be taking the place of Sophia Lillis who acted as young Beverly.
No other part has been officially cast yet, but both Bill Hader and James McAvoy are in talks to play Richie Tozier, originally played by Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, and Bill Denbrough, originally played by Jaeden Lieberher. Hader would play the role of Richie while McAvoy played Bill.
Bill Skarsgard is expected to return as the horrifying Pennywise the Dancing Clown, and Andy Muschietti will return as director.
The script is not yet finished, according to sources, and the negotiations are still in very early stages before any official casting can be announced, but both sides are in contact. Muschietti is also hoping to ring back the young stars from “Chapter One” to act in flashbacks throughout the movies, but those negotiations are also in early stages.
Hader is best known for his work on Saturday Night Live as a cast member from 2005-2013. He’s also performed in many movies including Superbad, Trainwreck, and Inside Out.
McAvoy can be seen in films such as Split, Atonement, and X-Men: Apocalypse.
IT: Chapter 2 is set to begin filming this July in Toronto.
