Everyone’s favorite mystery-solving duo, Sherlock and Watson, may be returning, this time on the silver screen.
Sue Vertue, producer of the BBC series based on British writer Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, recently hinted at a possible revival. “We love that show and there is a future for it. One day. Maybe. If everyone wants to do it,” she told Deadline at an Amazon Prime Video event in London. “It’s just getting everybody aligned, it’s getting the actors to want to do it,” she added, highlighting the challenge of coordinating schedules and commitments amongst the cast. She also mentioned that the show’s original set is still in storage, though it might not be in great shape.
Earlier this year, Mark Gatiss, who co-created and starred in the series, expressed enthusiasm and hope for rebooting the story in the form of a movie. However, he also acknowledged the difficulty of getting the cast back together.
Vertue’s company, Hartswood Films, was recently sold to ITV Studios in a move to broaden the scope of future production opportunities. She emphasized wanting a partner to avoid feeling “lonely” and mentioned the importance of new visions for collaboration.
Fans eagerly await news about Sherlock’s return, hoping the detective and Watson will solve new mysteries soon.
