Acclaimed Scandinavian author, Jo Nesbo, previously known for writing the basis behind The Snowman starring Michael Fassbender, is co-writing the script and producing a new adaptation titled Blood on Snow. The recent update for the Blood on Snow’s production is how Benedict Cumberbatch has recently replaced Tom Hardy and is co-starring along with Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the new crime thriller indie project directed by Cary Fukunaga.
Blood on Snow‘s plot concerns itself with a hitman and fixer named Olav played by Taylor-Johnson who is hired by his crime boss to execute his boss’s wife who is committing infidelity. Olav then ends up falling in love with his boss’s wife and a bloody mob war ensues. As character descriptions have not yet been released to the public, it is believed by The Hollywood Reporter that Cumberbatch is playing the mob boss who is called The Fisherman.
Jo Nesbo is currently writing the script for Blood on Snow with Ben Powers based on his own novel published in March of 2015. The movie is being produced by Mike Larocca and Michael Schaefer as their company, Department M will be financing the upcoming picture.
Blood on Snow will be Jo Nesbo’s fifth adaptation to film following The Snowman in 2017, The Hanging Sun in 2022, Headhunters in 2011, and Killer Heat in 2024.
