Briarcliff Entertainment has released the final trailer for their upcoming horror film, The Thing with Feathers. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch and David Thewlis and is directed by Dylan Southern. The film follows a father (Benedict Cumberbatch), a widower, who is struggling to raise his two children without their mother. To his surprise, a crow (David Thewlis) pays him an unexpected visit and torments him as he tries to process his grief while raising his children.
In the trailer, we see the father meeting with a therapist to try and find the root of his problems. The therapist states, “We should talk about the difference between grief and despair.” As he fumbles around trying to raise his two boys, an otherworldly crow shows up, taunting him and fueling his feelings of doubt. The crow says in the trailer, “You’re such a cliché. An English widower who abandoned his two sons thought he could wallow in self-pity.” Towards the end of the trailer, we see disturbing images of giant birds and people being ripped apart, hinting at the horrific side of this crow.
The film is based on the novel by Max Porter titled Grief Is the Thing with Feathers. The film comes out soon, with its release date being set for November 28th.
