Ben Affleck’s “The Way Back” To Be Released Digitally Due To COVID-19 Outbreak

COVID-19 has been delaying production of films left and right as Ben Affleck’s basketball drama The Way Back, which saw a theatrical release on March 6th is now going to be available to view digitally according to Comicbook.com.

Warner Bros. confirmed on Thursday that The Way Back would be available for pay-per-view on March 24th, starting at a retail price of only $19.99.“With audiences largely unable to view films in theatrical release under current circumstances, we have decided to provide the alternative of early digital ownership of our currently released titles to people looking for great entertainment options,” stated Warner Bros. chairman Toby Emmerich. “So, while we remain big fans of the theatrical experience and hope audiences are able to return to cinemas in the near future, we understand that these are challenging times and offering this option simply makes sense.”

With Gavin O’Connor placed in the director’s chair, The Way Back centers upon a former high school basketball star (Affleck) who receives a chance to coach the floundering team of his alma mater while also embattling his personal demons and drinking problems. The Way Back accompanies two other Warner Bros. releases, Birds of Prey and The Gentlemen, both of which will debut on VOD in the coming week.
