A trailer has emerged for the newest adaptation of It, directed by Andrés Muschietti. While the Stephen King book has been adapted before, the original It production (starring Tim Curry as the horrifying clown and otherworldly evil) was actually done through the medium of television, creating a four hour miniseries in 1990. Now, twenty-seven years later, this new adaptation will reach movie theaters to scare a new generation.
This time, Bill Skarsgård will be taking on the frightening mantle of Pennywise the clown. He will act alongside cast members like Jaeden Lieberher (The Book of Henry), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), and Sophia Lillis.
While the cinematography and chilling atmosphere of the film appear promising, there will most likely be many comparisons between the film and the miniseries, especially with audiences debating whether or not the adaptation needed an update. Nonetheless, it looks like horror fans and Stephen King buffs will have plenty of creepy visuals and suspense to enhance their experience. Furthermore, considering the length of the original book is over a thousand pages long, it seems like there must be parts that the miniseries has failed to bring to life, which might also allow the filmmakers to surprise and excite their audiences.
