‘Backstabbing for Beginners’ Acquired by A24, DirecTV

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Backstabbing for Beginners has been acquired by A24 and DirecTV. The duo has partnered since 2013 and together have released several films including Dark Places starring Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron (The Fate of the Furious), Slow West starring two-time Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender (Alien: Covenant) and The Blackcoat’s Daughter starring Emma Roberts (Nerve).

The political thriller stars Theo James (Divergent franchise), Oscar-winning actor Ben Kingsley (War Machine), and Jacqueline Bisset (Miss You Already). Danish filmmaker Per Fly (Monica Z) helms from a script he co-wrote with Daniel Pyne (Fracture). Based on a true story, the film is an adaptation of a 2008 bestseller by Michael Soussan about a U.N. worker on a covert mission in Iraq who gets caught up in corruption and fraud. Lars Knudsen, Daniel Bekerman, Malene Blenkov and Nikolaj Vibe Michelsen are producing.

Backstabbing for Beginners is currently in post-production.
