Academy Award winning director Damien Chazelle returns with another iconic film. Chazelle brings to screen Babylon starring Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt. The latest trailer for the film dropped on Thursday.
The movie is based on the change of the movie industry when switching from silent films to talkies. While at the same time, it explores the rise and fall various characters and has been known to portray “The Great Gatsby on steroids.”
With its early Hollywood roots in raucous parties and drug mayhem, it features a frenzied big band soundtrack and trailers featuring chained alligators, topless women, and Pitt dodging fans before falling off a balcony in his underwear.
The trailer features Robbie’s character communicating to Diego Calva, who plays a Manny Torres as a Latino character during the Hollywood silent era by saying “We are going to be more than they ever bargained for.”
Robbie and Pitt’s duo captures a real-life drugged-out debauchery turned depression perspective of a “high-art” version of Hollywood and, as Robbie’s character claims, “make it on my terms, not theirs,” to conflict between both of their points of view and actions.
Joining Robbie and Pitt is a huge ensemble featuring Li Jun Li, Jean Smart, Tobey Maguire, Olivia Wilde and Max Minghella, among many others.
Babylon will hit theaters on December 23. Watch the trailer below!
