With Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 nearly two weeks away, Rolling Stone revealed today the official track list for the film’s highly anticipated soundtrack, “Awesome Mix Vol. 2”. In both Guardians films, the Awesome Mix tapes are gifts Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill (Star-Lord) received from his dying mother on Earth. The songs featured in the mixes also serve as a musical backdrops to the film’s action set pieces and character moments. The soundtrack is slated to hit stores and digital download on April 21st.
The track list includes:
1. “Mr. Blue Sky” by Electric Light Orchestra
2. “Fox on the Run” by Sweet (exclusive to the trailers and TV Spots, not in the film itself)
3. “Lake Shore Drive” by Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah
4. “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac
5. “Bring it On Home to Me” by Sam Cooke
6. “Southern Nights” by Glen Campbell
7. “My Sweet Lord” by George Harrison
8. “Brandy You’re a Fine Girl” by Looking Glass
9. “Come a Little Bit Closer” by Jay and the Americans
10. “Wham Bang Shang-A-Lang” by Silver
11. “Surrender” by Cheap Trick
12. “Father and Son” by Yusuf and Cat Stevens
13. “Flashlight” by Parliament
The album also includes an original track created for the film written by director James Gunn and composer Tyler Bates called, “Guardians Inferno”, to be performed by fictional Marvel Universe band “The Sneepers” and will feature actor/singer David Hasselhoff (Knight Rider, Baywatch).
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to dance its way into theaters on May 5th.
