

The César Awards have given out their annual accolades as the award season continues on. Their own ceremony comes just a few days before the Academy Awards.
Their Best Film category was rounded out by the nominees of The Count Of Monte Cristo, Emilia Pérez, The Marching Band, Souleymane’s Story, and Miséricorde. The big winner of the night was Emilia Pérez, directed by Jacques Audiard.
Emilia Pérez follows a lawyer played by Zoe Saldaña given the opportunity to help a crime lord turn his life around into something he’s always wanted for himself.
Hollywood Reporter, who also posted a full list of winners, noted that Emilia Pérez also won several other awards. On top of Best Film, it also took home Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Music, Best Sound, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects.
Audiard took home Best Director over the other nominees of Beating Hearts’ Gilles Lellouche, The Count Of Monte Cristo’s Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière, Souleymane’s Story’s Boris Lojkine, and Miséricorde’s Alain Guiraudie.
Best Actor went to Karim Leklou for his performance in Jim’s Story. Also nominated was François Civil, Benjamin Lavernhe, Pierre Niney, and Tahar Rahim.
Borgo’s Hafsia Herzi won Best Actress, beating out Adèle Exarchopoulos, Karla Sofia Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, and Hélène Vincent.
