Avengers Endgame dominates the box office again during a special promotional re-release for the next Avengers installment Doomsday. Racking up a domestic total of 26 million and an international 88 million, it’s safe to say that one of the most profitable films of all times has held up. Fans will still have to wait till December though for the next installment for this epic franchise. Resident Evil came in second, dropping down to 23.3 million for its second weekend, followed by newcomer Heart of the Beast, which opened a 20 million in third.
The controversial and highly anticipated Robert Pattinson film Primetime, based loosely off the life and career of Chris Hansen and his series To Catch a Predator also hit screens this weekend, premiering to 19.1 million. DreamWork’s new animated film Forgotten Island opens up to fifth place with 12.8 million, but we’ll have to wait to see if it will stand amongst the other legendary installments from the studio as word of mouth takes over for the film.
Practical Magic 2 came in sixth place with 5.6 million, beating out Spider-Man Brand New Day which finally drops down to 7th place with 4.1 million in its ninth week. Lower half of the top 10 are made up out of The Odyssey in eighth after 11 weeks still netting 3.7 million, Coyote Vs Acme with 1.92 million after five weeks taking ninth, and Daniel and the Fiery Furnace in its second week grabbing 1.5 million.
