Although Avatar: Fire and Ash is still a few months away, fans of the franchise will get a chance to return to Pandora sooner than they thought. A documentary has been confirmed to be coming soon about the making of the Avatar series, but Zoe Saldaña reported that it may come even sooner than Fire and Ash.
Since it began in 2009, the Avatar films have been able to garner praise for the special effects and production value, despite what other facets of the movie are critiqued. Each film has strongly utilized the use of CGI, while leaning on motion capture for a majority of the performances on screen.
Zoe Saldaña, who stars in the franchise as Neytiri, confirmed that the documentary is coming very soon, possibly even before James Cameron releases the third installment, Fire and Ash. It’s not 100% complete just yet, though, as she also confirmed there are still a few finishing touches that need to be made.
Saldaña went further, explaining to Hollywood Reporter that now is the time when audiences get to fully see what goes on behind the scenes of these films, which, as she put it, is “where the true magic happens.”
“Because you are using everything that you have been teaching yourself, all the resources that Jim and his team have been facilitating to us as artists, we are able to then put that into use. But we can only do that by using our imagination, so it is child’s play at the deepest level,” she said.
Avatar: Fire And Ash hits theaters on December 19th.
