James Cameron’s upcoming science fiction epic, Avatar: Fire and Ash has a set release date of December 19, 2025. The director of the upcoming movie, James Cameron, has recently screened his third title in the Avatar saga to a few select theaters, and the reception has been highly positive. The reviews were as good as Cameron expected, and he claimed that Avatar: Fire and Ash will be his most emotional entry to hit the franchise yet. Cameron commented on the recent Avatar: Fire and Ash‘s reviews by saying,
I’ve shown it to a few selected people and the feedback has been that it’s definitely the most emotional and maybe the best of the three so far. We’ll find out, you know, but I feel pretty good about it. And the work is exceptional from the actors. It’s pretty heart-wrenching in a good way.
James Cameron has plans to stay in Wellington, New Zealand, the location of filming, during the remaining production of the upcoming Avatar films. While only two Avatar films have been released so far, they have both become major milestones in box office history. The 2009 release of Avatar garnered a blockbuster of $2.9 billion dollars while its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water made over $2.3 billion dollars with its release in 2022.
In a Q&A with James Cameron, he said there will be no use of AI generative effects in the upcoming Avatar movies. Avatar: Fire and Ash is expected to have a title card that will say:
No generative AI was used in the making of this movie.
