Aubrey Plaza, Christopher Abbott and Sarah Gadon have been recruited to star in the upcoming thriller meta-drama entitled Black Bear according to Deadline. Written and directed by Lawrence Michael Levine, the filming is set to commence in the Adirondack Mountains in Long Lake, New York under Productivity Media and Oakhurst Entertainment.
Productivity is funding the film in which Oakhurst’s Marina Grasic and Jai Khanna serving as producers. Julie Christeas and Jonathan Blitstein of Tandem Pictures, Sophia Takal and Richard J. Bosner of Blue Creek Pictures will produce in a specific capacity.
The thriller follows a couple expecting a child who are confronted with an out-of-town guest Abigail who is a filmmaker experiencing writer’s block. Through this mental blockade, Abigail seeks to find solace in the forest but instead finds herself in the middle of a convoluted love triangle.
Plaza currently has a starring role in Noah Hawley’s FX series Legion and was recently seen in MGM’s reboot of Child’s Play. Abbott headlines a Hulu miniseries entitled Catch-22 which is executive produced by George Clooney and will star in the upcoming film Possessor opposite Andrea Riseborough and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Gadon has a thick slate of films which includes American Woman and Vampires Versus The Bronx.
