Held this last week, CinemaCon hosted several big studios so they could advertise many of their upcoming films and projects. Among these showcases included one for the highly anticipated Avatar: Fire And Ash. James Cameron, director and creative mind behind the Avatar series, showed those in attendance how the next film will turn up the heat for the Sully family.
Over the course of about three minutes, according to Hollywood Reporter, Cameron gave the audience a taste of what Fire And Ash holds in store. Snippets of action scenes were shown off, as well as a hint of Neytiri’s story within the film.
The action scenes themselves include, as one could assume from the title, plenty of fire. As the namesake of the film, this comes thanks to the new tribe of Na’vi introduced in the film. Rather than the reverence for the planet that the tribes of the first films possess, the new tribe, the Ash Clan, drive on destruction and catastrophe, using fire to do so.
The previous film, The Way Of Water, put Jake Sully, Neytiri, and their family through the ultimate test. After moving their family to avoid a resurfacing threat, their new home fell under attack, resulting in the death of the family’s eldest son Neteyam. Part of the footage shown was Jake imploring Neytiri to let go of her rage, presumably that she still holds over the death of her son.
Avatar: Fire And Ash hits theaters December 19th.
