About a year ago, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were cast for the highly anticipated Wicked film directed by Jon M. Chu. The two will portray two of the iconic witches of Oz – Glinda (Grande) and Elphaba (Erivo).
Grande shared a sneak peek of her time on the project through an Instagram post. In her post, she shared pictures of herself with her co-star, Erivo, in black and white, with the only picture in color being the last – one that only showed the pairs’ hands. The post’s caption reads: “Up to (no) good.”
Grande chose black and white to hide or at least lessen the shock of her new bleached hair and eyebrows. The new look was done for her role as Glinda, who is typically portrayed as a blonde. The caption was also an Easter egg of sorts, as it could point to several Wicked references such as the numbers “No Good Deed,” “For Good,” or even just a play on the value of good and evil assigned to the main characters.
