Three of Adult Swim’s oldest and most popular shows are all getting feature films: Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Metalocalypse, and The Venture Bros. The trio of films are going to have an initial release on Blu-ray, DVD, and on Video-on-Demand services exclusively for 90 days prior to a premiere on Adult Swim and their sister streaming site, HBO Max.
Micheal Ouweleen, Adult Swim’s president has said: “Leveraging the power of WarnerMedia allows us to deliver original content to our amazingly dedicated and not-shy fans, while also giving our talented series creators an opportunity to tell stories in new and interesting ways.”
All the way back in 2011, Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small had mentioned in an interview with MXDWN Music his intentions to end the series with a film after its fourth season. Now his plans have come true and the film will conclude the Dethklok journey. The music, though, he hopes will continue past the show’s own lifespan saying “I wanted to be able to have an audio driven show. Maybe the show gets cancelled, I can keep the audio alive. So, I would love to keep on making Dethklok records forever.”

The power-hungry TRIBUNAL unveils their secret and deadly “Falconback Project” as the world grows in embattled chaos and the menacing Doomstar breaches the Earth’s atmosphere while the mysterious and twisted dissent of a band member threatens the future of Dethklok. Picking up directly after the heroic rescue of Toki Wartooth: Can Dethklok choose between their egos and the greater good of the world to embark on a gauntlet of dangers that will try their very souls and finally write the song that will be their salvation?
This is the synopsis of The Venture Bros. film, which puts Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer back in creative control:
Doc’s latest invention will either bankrupt the Ventures or launch them to new heights, as Hank searches for himself, Dean searches for Hank, The Monarch searches for answers, and a mysterious woman from their pasts threatens to bring their entire world crashing down on them.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force does not have an official synopsis yet, but will follow the events of the series, where viewers find out what happened to Frylock, Master Shake, and Meatwad. This will be the series’s second feature following 2007’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters.
No known release date is yet known for the films.
