Anya Taylor-Joy to Re-Team with ‘Witch’ Director Robert Eggers for ‘Nosferatu’ Remake

The director and now movie star team that brought 2015’s acclaimed psychological horror The Witch is back together to take on remake of the classic vampire tale Nosferatu, Variety reports. Filmmaker Robert Eggers is writing and directing the re-imagination of the 1922 silent film classic and Werner Herzog’s 1979 remake. Anya Taylor-Joy, the star of Egger’s The Witch and who has now been made famous by M. Night Shyamalan‘s Split, is poised to star. Studio 8 is financing the film.

The original Nosferatu told the story of Count Orlok of Transylvania as he searches for a house to buy in Germany and falls under the spell of the real estate agent’s wife. Nosferatu has been regaled as one of the most terrifying and eerie depictions of vampyrism ever to hit the big screen. With Eggers at the helm, who in his directorial debut wowed audiences and critics alike through his artistically crafted horror, Nosferatu is in some of the most capable hands that Hollywood has to offer at the moment.

With Taylor-Joy on board as well, this film is already brewing with star power. Eggers was reportedly intent on getting Joy to star in his next film, but after her star-making turn in Split, her schedule has been jam-packed. She is gearing up to star in Split’s sequel, Glassand in the studio pic New Mutantswhich will be an X-Men spinoff.
