Anya Taylor-Joy and Ralph Fiennes to Star in Searchlight’s ‘The Menu’

Anya Taylor-Joy, after her acclaimed role in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit, seems to have found her next feature film. Negotiations for her to star in Searchlight’s dark comedy The Menu are underway. Ralph Fiennes recently closed a deal to star as well. Will Tracy and Seth Reiss penned the script, and Mark Mylod will direct.

According to Deadline, The Menu is a darkly comedic psychological thriller set in the world of culinary culture. It centers around a young couple who visit an exclusive restaurant on a remote island where a revered chef has prepared a lavish menu. Taylor-Joy will play one half of the couple, while Fiennes is the chef.

Fiennes is best known for his roles in Schindler’s List, Quiz Show, and as the infamous Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise. Back in January, he starred in the Netflix drama The Dig. Following up with that, he will return in the next James Bond picture No Time to Die and is set to star in the Kingsman prequel The King’s Man

From her breakout role in Robert Eggers’ The Witch, Taylor-Joy rose to stardom and was handpicked to star in the M. Night Shyamalan thriller Split and its sequel Glass. One of the streamers’ biggest hits of 2020, Netflix’s limited series The Queen’s Gambit, also earned her more recognition in 2021. She was also the lead in Focus Features’ Emma

Taylor-Joy has a packed schedule ahead of her this year, with starring roles in the Viking drama The Northman, Edgar Wright’s Last Night in Soho, and the untitled David O. Russell pic. She was also set to star in Furiosa, the Mad Max spinoff, in the lead role as well.
