While Deadpool And Wolverine continues its string of immense financial successes, fans are already looking towards the next project that the MCU has to offer. On the film side of the story, the next theatrical release will be Captain America: Brave New World.
Brave New World sees Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, take up the shield and mantle of Captain America, passed to him by Steve Rogers. Sam will have to prove himself and his strength, however, when he gets wrapped up in a plot involving President Thunderbolt Ross.
According to ComicBook.com, Mackie joined The Official Marvel Podcast’s latest episode, elaborating on what Sam Wilson will have to go through as Captain America.
Mackie also cracked a joke at the expense of Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland. “This is way better than any of Tom Holland’s movies. And I have Harrison Ford!”
Mackie’s dig at Holland is a tradition that he’s carried since Tom Holland joined the MCU, back in Captain America: Civil War. Since then, the two have had a back-and-forth camaraderie any time they share a press circuit.
The past bit of Mackie’s comment, as well, alludes to Harrison Ford talking over as Thunderbolt Ross. William Hurt played the character since 2008, but passed away in 2022. The trailers released for the film have also already promised that Ross will play a significant role within the narrative.
Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters February 14th, 2025.
