With a new Ghostbusters set to release in 2020, fans are curious if this new feature directed by Jason Reitman, son of the original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, will bring any new members. Now it looks like one such member has answered the called, with Variety announcing that Marvel actor Paul Rudd is joining the recent cast of the upcoming revival feature. His character has yet to have been specified but, considering how a big name like Rudd is attached to the franchise, it’ll surely be major. The actor will now go from fighting alongside with the Avengers as Ant-Man to busting ghosts with everyone’s favorite team of paranormal investigators.
Jason Reitman has expressed a lot of excitement for Paul Rudd joining the team. He stated to Variety that “I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ at Sundance”. Considering the actor’s previous experience working in comedies, as well as the Ant-Man movies proving to be some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s funnier entries, Rudd would be a good fit to star alongside the comedic styles of legendary actors like Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, both of whom will be reprising their iconic roles.
Ghostbusters is currently expected for a July 10th 2020 release date.
