‘Ant-Man’ Actor, David Dastmalchian, Joins Cast for ‘Suicide Squad’ Sequel

David Dastmalchian, who appears in the Ant-Man series as the ex-convict, Kurt, will be playing Polka-dot man in DC’s upcoming Suicide Squad film. Other new characters include King Shark, Ratcatcher, and Peacemaker. Dastmalchian joins the film’s cast alongside veterans of the franchise such as Margot Robbie returning as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Idris Elba who is playing a yet to be revealed character.

Director James Gunn will be changing the storyline in a unique way by not following up the first Suicide Squad with a straightforward sequel. Gunn will be incorporating both new and old characters. Plot details remain undisclosed.

Polka-Dot Man, a more obscure DC character, is a thief with a penchant for all things dot-related. His crimes usually revolve around such motifs. This character has appeared less than 12 times, thus not calling much attention to the character’s existence and his backstory. This role, however, is one of the more prominent ones Dastmalchian will be taking on since beginning his acting career. His first role was in Christopher Nolan’s That Dark Night which introduced him to the DC universe.

The Suicide Squad Sequel is slated to be released on August 5, 2021. This news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
