Annette Benning In Negotiations to Star in “Death On the Nile”

Oscar-nominated actress Annette Bening is currently in negotiations to portray the character Euphemia in Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming Fox drama Death On the Nile, according to Deadline. The film will serve as a follow-up to his previous adaptation of Murder On the Orient Express. If successful, Bening will join a cast consisting of Gal Gabot, Armie Hammer, Tom Bateman, and Branagh himself, who will be reprising his role as detective Hercule Poirot. The film is projected for an October 9th 2020 release date.

Much of Branagh’s crew will be returning for the follow-up. The director confirmed that Michael Green will adapt the film based on the 1937 Agatha Christie novel with a powerhouse team of Ridley Scott, Juddy Hofflund, Simon Kinberg, Kevin Walsh, and Mark Gordon handling production. Branagh’s Murder On the Orient Express was also based on an Agatha Christie novel, which met mixed reviews by critics but received a moderate box office success. Branagh will also direct an adaptation of Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl novel next year under the Walt Disney banner.

Coming off the heels of Captain Marvel, Bening is currently acting in Gideon Raff’s thriller Turn of Mind alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Scott Z. Burns’ The Report, both of which will release later this year.
