Anne Hathaway Led Pandemic-Heist Film, ‘Lockdown,’ Has Started Shooting and Has More Star Power on the Way

The Hollywood Reporter reports, the new Doug Liman film entitled ‘Lockdown’ has began shooting in London with stars Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor, along with a plethora of other stars on the way.

The story follows a couple, Linda(Hathaway) and Paxton (Ejiofor), in the midst of the Covid-19 lockdowns that were prolific around the world just a few months ago. In a bid to change their recent bouts of arguments, the duo plan to rob one of the most prestigious department stores in all of London, ‘Harrods.’

The ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ director will have Steven Knight, writer and director of the Tom Hardy film ‘Locke,’ as the scribe for this script. The two have never worked together, though based off a glance at their resumes, could create an easily engaging, action- filled and somewhat thought-provoking film.

In addition to the established talent behind the camera, the producers are in “advanced talks” with Ben Stiller(Tropic Thunder), Lily James(Baby Driver), Stephen Merchant(Logan), Dulé Hill(Psych), Jazmyn Simon(Ballers) and Mark Gatiss(Sherlock) to star alongside Hathaway and Ejiofor. Those actors could play a slew of roles throughout the story, whether they are larger or smaller parts is yet to be known.

The concept for ‘Lockdown’ was hatched by producers P.J. van Sandwijk and Michael Lesslie, who then approached Liman and Knight to direct and write, respectively. From its initial inception, the project took just around ninety days to come to fruition.

The film is now shooting in London under strict protocols due to the ongoing pandemic, which seems fitting for this Covid-19 set film.
