Anne Hathaway Confirmed To Star In Film Adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s ‘Verity’

Amazon MGM will be producing a new Colleen Hoover novel adaptation, this time with the No.1 New York bestseller Verity. The film will be directed by Michael Showalter, who previously worked with Anne Hathaway on another Amazon film, The Idea of You. The rom-com was viewed as a success by Amazon, so it only seemed logical to pair up Showalter and Hathaway again.

The novel Verity follows author Lowen Ashleigh, who receives an unbelievable offer to finish a thrilling novel series for bestselling author Verity Crawford when she has a mysterious accident. When Lowen gets her hands on Verity’s materials, she begins to get wrapped up in the chilling revelations hidden in Verity’s secret, unfinished autobiography. While at first, she intends to keep the contents of the book from Verity’s husband, Jeremy, she begins to waver when as her feelings towards the man grow. Anne Hathaway will reportedly be playing the titular Verity Crawford.

Colleen Hoover recently had another of her book adaptations released in It Ends with Us earlier this year. The film had middling reviews but grossed $349 million at the worldwide box office. This success has paved the way for more film adaptations for the popular author.

Anne Hathaway has had a busy year starring in the previously mentioned The Idea of You as well as in the drama-thriller Mother’s Instinct starring Jessica Chastain. Hathaway has multiple other projects lined up for the future, including the David Lowrey film Mother Mary, also starring Hunter Schaefer. She will also be starring in The Princess Diaries 3 and Christopher Nolan’s next feature film.

Verity currently has no set release date, but the script written by Nick Antosca is reportedly finished, and the film is expected to release in theaters.
