Mary Nighy, daughter of Bill Nighy and actor in Marie Antoinette, is directing a new psychological thriller starring Oscar nominee, Anna Kendrick.
Liongate’s Alice Darling follows Alice (Kendrick) is in a psychologically abusive relationship with Simon, played by Charlie Carrick. She is invited to go on vacation with her two close friends and lies to Simon about her plans, leading him to come find her. Alice’s friends are worried for her safety and offer her some much-needed perspective, but only Alice can save herself in the end.
Kendrick is most known for her roles as Jessica in the Twilight franchise, Becca in the Pitch Perfect franchise and Cinderella in Into the Woods. This will be one of Kendrick’s more serious roles she’s taken on.
Also starring Kaniehttio Horn (Letterkenny) and Wunmi Mosaku (His House). Written by Alanna Francis (The Rest of Us).
With a run time of 90 minutes, this film is said to be Kendrick’s “best performance of her career” according to the Film Stage.
Alice Darling will be in theaters January 20, 2023.
