Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) is rejoining the director that gave her her first major role, according to Deadline. The Up in The Air actress has joined the impressive ensemble cast of Table 19, which is being directed by Jeffrey Blitz (Spellbound), who worked with Kendrick back in 2007 on the high school comedy Rocket Science.
Table 19 follows a group of strangers placed at a table of misfits at a destination wedding. The rest of the cast includes Craig Robinson (Hot Tub Time Machine 2), Lisa Kudrow (P.S. I Love You), Stephen Merchant (HBO’s Hello Ladies), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), June Squibb (Nebraska), Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street), and Amanda Crew (Sex Drive). The script was written by mumblecore figureheads Jay and Mark Duplass (Cyrus, Jeff, Who Lives at Home), so it seems reasonable to expect it have the same deft mix of wry comedy and drama as their past work.
Kendrick has several projects waiting for release, including Pitch Perfect 2, Mr. Right, and Get a Job. Her latest, The Last Five Years, hit theaters last month. This will Kendrick’s first time working with Blitz since Rocket Science, for which the actress received an Independent Spirit Award nomination. Kendrick also worked with Craig Robinson in the post apocalyptic comedy Rapture-Palooza, which got a small release in 2013.
Table 19 starts shooting in Atlanta next week.
