Animated Venom Movie In The Works At Sony And Marvel

An animated Venom movie based on the popular Marvel Comics character is currently in development at Sony, Marvel, and Sony Pictures Animation. Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, the directors behind last year’s Final Destination: Bloodlines, are set to direct the film. Tom Hardy, who played the role of Eddie Brock and acted as the voice of Venom in the three previous live-action Venom movies, is set to produce this animated Venom movie, along with the screenwriter of those three films, as well as the director of the most recent live-action Venom movie, Venom: The Last Dance. Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach, all of whom produced the previous three live-action Venom movies, are also set to produce this animated Venom movie.

The three previous live-action Venom movies altogether have grossed $1.78 billion. Much of that total comes from the first Venom movie, which grossed $856 million when it was released back in 2018. There was a continued drop-off at the box office for the subsequent two films, with 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage grossing $506.8 million and 2024’s Venom: The Last Dance grossing $478.9 million.

No writers are currently involved in this animated Venom movie. It is also not currently known if anyone involved in the Spider-Verse movies, Sony’s other big animated Spider-Man franchise, is involved in this animated Venom movie. The film is also currently in early development, so no release date is known at this time.
