Angelina Jolie might be cast in the upcoming Marvel movie, The Eternals, according to Variety. Based on the 1970s comic of the same name, the film’s details along with the character Jolie may play remains undisclosed. This will be Jolie’s first time assuming a role in the superhero world. It will be interesting to see if Jolie’s potential involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be long term.
In the comics created by Jack Kirby, the Eternals are the result of experimentation on humans to create people with super abilities. This also creates the Deviants, the Eternals’ evil opposites. The Eternals are woven into human history during moments in the comics when they battle ancient peoples such as the Romans and the Greeks. Thanos’ mother is said to be an Eternal.
Chloe Zhao is set to direct the film based on a script written by the cousin duo, Matthew and Ryan Firpo. They were announced as part of the project in May of last year. They gained attention after writing the script for the 2017 movie, Ruin.
Jolie will reprise her role as the evil enchantress in Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, which will be released October 18th. She will also be involved with the film The One and Only Ivan, which is based on the children’s novel of the same name and will be featured in Brenda Chapman’s Come Away.
