Angelina Jolie, the highly revered actress, director, and special envoy for the United Nations refugee agency, recently signed a three-year contract with Fremantle and is set to begin working on a new film Without Blood as her first project. Jolie will produce and direct this new war film based on the novel by Alessandro Baricco. In a recent statement, Fremantle stated that the company and Julie seek to create a “sophisticated, powerful and internationally focused slate of feature films, documentaries, and original series in which she will produce, direct, and/or star-based on each individual project. Without Blood will begin production in Italy this May and their upcoming projects are planned to support films globally.

Jolie says, “To have this freedom to tell important stories and bring them to a global audience is at the heart of this agreement with Fremantle. I am excited to be working with such a passionate and forward-looking team that has an international perspective.” Without Blood deals with themes of loss, revenge, and healing. This is set to be the first production of many with Jolie and Fremantle entering their partnership.
